Cut Up Your Cards!!!

Who says budgeting is a dirty word?

It’s been ages since I last sent an email newsletter. To be honest I have been feeling a bit burnt out, or maybe it’s still Covid fatigue and looking at 2 ageing parents in 2 different aged care residences, both with Alzheimers/Dementia. It’s been a challenging couple of years for us as a family with Dad being moved into Aged Care in March after he was finding it more and more difficult to get up out of his chair and wanting someone in his house all the time. We felt that Aged Care would give him better care than we could provide for him at home. Sadly, Dad passed away 3 months later after falling and breaking his hip. This caused him to deteriorate quickly but he was 91 ½ years old and we children were able to share the last week with him in his room, chatting with each other about dad and his accomplishments and the crazy things he had been doing, keeping me on my toes!!

I have to say that I feel really fortunate that I work for myself and could be the go-to person whenever dad called. Living just 1km from his house the phone rang frequently and most of the time I was able to drop everything and go and keep him company, take him for a drive or get him something to eat. We had carers everyday but somehow that wasn’t quite enough. He also wanted to debate when he was going to get his drivers license back and when was I going to return his car!

One of the things that I have realized upon reflecting about my relationship with my dad is what I have learnt from him. And, after realising that I’m entrepreneurial like him, he always was frugal with money and couldn’t emphasize enough the importance of having a budget to keep you accountable in your spending.  So as we head into Spring, my gift for you is my free budget planner – make sure you download it here. Budgeting is a great tool for you to help you set your goals and achieve them. Call it what you like… Conscious spending or budgeting but the fact is, a goal is just a dream without a plan.

Stay tuned over the coming months as I am re-working my Money Worries Gone workshop into a video series that you can access at your leisure. That way there will be more financially literate women out there being able to surge forward in leaps and bounds as they prepare for a life of financial freedom. Having it downloadable means that you don’t have to worry about being available in my timeslots. Keep your eyes on the email in coming months.

That’s all from me for now… I’ve set my goals for 2023 and already put a deposit down on a caravan for my lap around Australia in about 4 years time. I’m heading off to the Tiny House Festival in Bendigo in 2 weeks time to check out all things tiny and dream a bit more about my Tiny House village that one day will become a reality.

Don’t forget to always Dare To Dream, but also put a plan in place so you reach the goal.

Yours in finance
